We had a lovely walk, beautiful weather and a picnic lunch in the Seaforth Hall. Thanks to Jim and Sally for organising the walk, which took most people on previously unknown territory. Thanks also to Pat and Daphne for making the tea and coffee at lunchtime.
This will be held at Cedar Cottage, Tilgate Forest Lodge, kindly hosted by Sid and Helen, beginning at 7.30pm. Could you please book through Gill Bedingham (400572), price £7, to include first drink. As our questionnaires revealed that almost everybody likes this event, we are looking forward to meeting lots of people there and hoping for good weather!! Bring your woollies anyway, as even the brightest English evenings can become a bit chilly! It would also be helpful if some people could bring folding chairs.
There have been requests from members wishing to begin or improve their French. There is a very nice French teacher living in Handcross, who is willing to give lessons in her home. This could daytime or Thursday, Friday or Monday evenings. The cost would be £20 per session, shared between 4-6 people. If there were a great disparity in ability and enough people, Judy would run two classes.
Please could you ring Pam (461451) if you are interested as soon as possible and we will sort out convenient times and discuss what you would like from the lessons.
Thanks to all those people who offered to host French visitors. I have not yet received the final list from Jacqueline, but will start ringing round very soon. Some of you already know whether or not the people you normally stay with will be coming.
We have booked the Museum of Kent Life for our Saturday outing. It sounds very interesting, taking us back in time to see how the hop farm workers lived. We are expected to arrive around 10.30 to 11 am. The French speaking guide is booked for 11.30am, so we can gather for lunch between 12.30 and 1.00pm. This will be in the chapel if it is raining, or outside if the weather is fine. Prices are Adult £6.50, Child £4.50. Seniors £4.70.
We will now take firm bookings for this and the evening meal at the White Hart. For those who have already completed a form, we will take this as a firm booking , unless you let us know otherwise. Please contact Gill Bedingham (400572) to book, cancel or request more information.
